"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air LIVE!" Returns to Oasis for an Unapologetically Black and Queer Celebration of Nostalgia and Representation

Major Hammy as Will Smith in the The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air LIVE! returns to Oasis for a limited engagement. With only 11 performances, this is a must-see parody that celebrates Black culture, queerness, and the transformative power of drag.

San Francisco, CA – Get ready to have your world flipped, turned upside down—again! Back by popular demand, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air LIVE! returns to SF Oasis for a limited engagement from Feb. 20 – March 15. Produced by Oasis Arts this all-Black drag parody reimagines the beloved ‘90s sitcom with humor, heart, and a whole lot of attitude. Featuring an all-star cast, this production is a showcase of Black excellence during Black History Month, blending comedy, music, and culture in a way only drag can deliver.

Oasis has built a legacy of drag parodies, and this production marks a powerful shift toward centering Black narratives on stage. Director Snaxx is bringing this show back after its highly successful 2023 debut, seeing it as an opportunity to elevate Black stories within a genre that has long celebrated mainstream television classics.

“The reality is, most hit TV shows from the ‘90s and earlier are predominantly, if not entirely, white,” Snaxx explains. “I've had the unique honor of bringing a Black story to the stage, not only for the incredible actors to have a platform but for audiences to experience a story that resonates deeply. Representation matters.”

Among the standout performances is Miss Rahni, reprising her role as Aunt Viv. A character known for her grace, intelligence, and commanding presence, Aunt Viv has long been an icon of Black excellence. For Miss Rahni, stepping into this role is about more than just entertainment—it’s about legacy.

“Aunt Viv is the epitome of Black excellence—graceful, intelligent, and always in command of her space,” says Miss Rahni. “When I portray her, I’m honoring every powerful Black woman who has shaped me—mothers, aunties, mentors, and legends. She is, and always will be, that girl.”

Returning to the role for a second time, Miss Rahni brings even more depth and nuance to the character. “The first time, I was focused on embodying her power—now, I’m living in it,” she shares. “Audiences can expect even more layers—more attitude, more vulnerability, and a few moments that will have people gagged! Aunt Viv has always been multidimensional, and in this run, I get to push that even further. She’s loving but firm, graceful but sharp, polished but never afraid to remind folks exactly who she is. And trust me, she’s got a few surprises up her sleeve that’ll leave the audience living!”

In an era where conversations about diversity and representation are more crucial than ever, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air LIVE! stands as a bold statement. “Drag has always been a form of resistance,” Miss Rahni emphasizes.

Portraying Aunt Viv in this adaptation is an act of defiance, of celebration, of truth. She represents everything they tell us we can’t be—powerful, educated, elegant, and unshakable. And in this queer retelling, she’s also everything that drag has always been—bold, subversive, and free.
— Miss Rahni

At a time when the Black, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA communities are facing increasing restrictions and erasure, supporting queer Black art is more vital than ever. The current administration's refusal to allow drag performances at the Kennedy Center is just one example of the ongoing attempts to stifle queer expression. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air LIVE! is more than a parody—it is a statement, a stand against oppression, and a celebration of resilience.

Audiences can expect major laughs, nostalgic music, and delicious cocktails—all within the electrifying atmosphere of SF Oasis. With only 11 performances, this is a must-see theatrical event that celebrates Black culture, queerness, and the transformative power of drag.
